HP Catalyst is global network of consortia that is developing more effective approaches to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. The goal is to transform STEM learning and teaching, and to inspire students to use their technical and creative ingenuity to address urgent social challenges in their communities. What’s needed is fresh thinking about STEM education that incorporates important new disciplines in an interdisciplinary way, emphasizes creative and global collaboration skills, and puts student empowerment at its core.
hp catalyst MMUST chapter brings together students and Lecturers who work together to create a network of consortia building a cohesive, student-centered approach to STEM+ education, HP catalyst MMUST chapter is creating space for innovation that improves student performance.
On 17th November 2012 HP CATALYST had their annual workshop at MASENO PROF, SIGOT’S GARDEN where major topics were discussed and different slides presented by different presenters who keep HP CATALYST alive. The theme of the day “INNOVATION IN STEM LEARNING AND TEACHING FIRST HP” was the brain as ICT, SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION AND YOUNG SCHOLAR FORUM made the body of the workshop.
The workshop attracted many senior lecturer and professor not to mention the young scholars from different department who made the workshop breath to the end, achieving all the set goals of the day.
Chemistry virtual lab is meant to train secondary students how to use chemistry practicals using computer software thus making their practical easy and efficient. The training was conducted by mmust students chosen on merit basis to conduct the virtual lab training in different high schools in the region.
A sample of students (15) and one teacher were selected for the programme study. From the research, it was therefore concluded that the schools have to implement the e-learning and install software for the practical. It was recommended that the H.O.D of the sciences in the school should strive to achieve the obligation maximally for the betterment of the school.
